At first glance, Mihaela Pană’s role – partner, private investments, capital markets at Cushman & Wakefield Echinox – seems multifaceted and sophisticated with technical language. However, as she herself says, things are simpler than they seem: “Basically, we are talking about a private investments division, which translates into investments made by local investors in various properties in the retail area, in the office area – small buildings, boutiques, historic villas. It means acquisitions and portfolio diversifications made by these investors.” And, more importantly, these investments reflect a change in mentality. If a decade ago, most placements were concentrated in the residential segment, with an emphasis on premium properties, from apartments to historic villas, the pandemic was a turning point.
